Some Random Things I'm Thankful For

So I figured I needed to give some thanks this Thanksgiving, and so I thought I would post some miscellaneous things I am thankful for at the moment. Enjoy....

Cell phone chargers
Courtesy phones
Little boys
Receipts
Increased Credit Limits :)
Facebook (re/connecting with old/new friends)
Pictures to keep the memories and laugh at
Doing laundry not in a laundromat
Fruits and veggies (I've missed those as a college kid)
Santa
Christmas music (esp. Wonderful Christmastime, Happy Xmas (War is Over), and Mary, Did You Know)
Actually having friends!
My knowledge of the BYU Bookstore's inner workings
Bishops
BYU
Star Wars (always!)
Brakes on bikes
Stick shift cars!
Hair dryers that blow hot air
Adoptive roommates!
Twilight (and Midnight Sun for that matter!)
Jasper Cullen *sigh*
Underground FHE
Michael Buble (and his lovely voice that lulls me to sleep)
HEATER. (period)
Fruit gummies-- yum!

Ok I think that's a pretty good list. Hope you (and I) take less for granted now!

Weekend of Deprivation

So, funny story. I went to my bishop's house for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. I had a whole bunch of stuff with me because I was being shuffled from place to place and needed stuff in each of those places. Anyway, I left my laptop and a bag of other stuff in his backseat, and one of his daughters took me home, so I forgot all of that stuff. I had my cell phone with me, but the charger cord was in the bag, so that meant I was basically without a phone for a few days. Also, I was without my computer (GASP!) for a few days, too. Among other important things left were my make-up, my brush, and my hair straightener. Just things I really don't care about-- really. So, this was pretty much the strangest weekend I've had without those essential items. Right before my phone died, I wrote down all the numbers I could possibly need or that could possibly be of help to me while I was phone-less for a few days. I thought the list was funny, so I'll post it. If you're here, then you're special. If not, well, maybe I was just clicking through the names too fast. :)

Important Phone Numbers:
Vanfleets (people I was staying with)
Bishop (needed to get my stuff back at some point)
BYU Bookstore (in case I needed to call in to work)
Christine (would be in town for the weekend, too)
Clarissa (what are roomies for?)
Dad (in case I needed money, of course)
DaNae (you always have to have your BFFL's number)
Jeff (has a car and is in the state)
John (ditto)
Lorraine (my second mommie)
Mom (my BFF!)
Neil (in the same state, knows people with transportation)
Rachel (my RA)
Russell (only family in the state)
Sara (in case mom and dad weren't answering their phones)
Steff (gotta keep the roommates' numbers)
Steve @ the Bookstore (once again, if I needed to call into work)
Taylor (my home teacher)

So, it turns out I didn't really need any of these except the first one, but hey, "if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear."

Any favorites from my list? Leave a comment....

Preference: "Don't Break the Ice"

I spent all afternoon getting ready. I mean, what girl doesn't do that when she has a date? And especially a first date. Anyway, the girls from next door helped me decide on what to wear (I actually borrowed clothes from them), do my hair, make-up, etc. It was tons of fun! Here's the final result:

I was extremely nervous. I met Neil at his apartment and we walked to Wendy's. Once we were together, though, things went smoothly and we could just be friends out having fun together. No pressure. Then we went to the Varsity Theater in the Wilk to see a dollar movie, WALL-E, and that's like the cutest movie ever. Neil'd never seen it, and he said it was good. I really, really like the soundtrack for some reason. Good movie.

After that we met up with my friend and her boyfriend who we were doubling with (plus, they have a car), and they hadn't eaten yet, so we went back to Wendy's and watched them eat. Neil had some fun with the straws, as you can see form these pics....

Running out of ideas at this point
Once we finally got to the Ice Arena, we had to stand in 2 different lines and it was a loooong wait. These are some pics I took while we were waiting....

Anyway, we finally got our skates and it took a while to put them on, then we were some of the first ones out on the newly-Zamboni-ed ice. It was really nice. I turned out to be the best ice skater out of us 4, and when all three of them are from Utah, that's just plain sad.

Eventually I started a game of tag with Neil. And then it was on! We chased each other the whole rest of the night. It was like a couple hours. We were pretty obnoxious though, and kept running into people, including each other. It was soo hilarious. Here are some pics from on the ice:

Us taking a break. We had out hood on to disguise ourselves during the last minutes of our intense game.

Fluffy hair!

Brianna drove us home at midnight, and we spent the rest of our visiting hours playing Nertz at his apartment. I totally smoked him, and it was great fun. Hope you all enjoyed the pics. Now here are a couple vids you might like:

Haircut!

I got a haircut last Thursday in the barbershop in the basement of the Wilk. I'm always slightly nervous about getting a haircut, because frankly, this stuff takes a long time to grow! lol Luckily, though, it turned out amazing this time! I took some pictures of it so you can see. Everyone says it looks really nice, and I loooove having bangs again.

Snow!

This morning we had our first real snow. It stayed on the ground for a couple of hours. But it was pretty dang cold out side. I wish I'd gotten pictures of the snow because it looked awesome, but instead you get pics of me all cute and bundled up.

I've been sleeping over at the girls next door's apartment for the past few days because my matress is over there and we're too lazy to bring it back. Here's what their living room looks like hahaha:

Some random cute Halloween decorations still up in the apartment beneath mine.

Preference!

So, this past Sunday I asked Neil, my FHE hubby, to Preference this weekend. For those of you who don't know what Preference is, it's a ladies' choice dance. The girls in the apartment next door helped me plan the attack. We cut out circles of paper and colored them. Then I wrote the message on the biggest dots. We stuck them on his door at midnight then I banged on the door like anything, and ran like there was no tomorrow. It was tons of fun. We spied from our stairwell's balcony but didn't see any lights on, so we went back to try again, and this time we heard their voices when we were right around the corner from their door. You wouldn't believe how fast we booked it away from there. It was so much fun! Well, I talked to him the next day and he said he would come, and we're both pretty excited. We're doubling with my friend Brianna (who I met at Edu Week) and her boyfriend. The dance is at the Seven Peaks' Ice Arena, and the theme is "Don't Break the Ice." So there will be dancing and ice skating. Sounds so fun! Before the dance, we're going to the Varsity theater in the Wilk to see WALL-E, and we're each making our dates dinner before the movie. Fun stuff.

Here are some pictures of his decorated door: (sorry they're out of order, but I couldn't change it, so just mentally switch the middle 2 pics)
