I got hit by a car a week before Thanksgiving while riding my bike home from campus.
Now, don't get all worried. I somehow managed to (literally) walk away from the accident, escaping with just three (albeit, pretty big and nasty) bruises. I was wearing my helmet, thankfully, though I don't even think I hit my head. My bike was pretty much totaled. I'm glad that I didn't have any more serious injuries.
(The guy who hit me was turning right and didn't look to see me riding into the crosswalk. He was just 4 weeks off his mission and probably hadn't driven in 2 years.)
Well, I took a trip to ER to get everything checked out (they actually had my information from like 20 years ago when I used to come to the same ER for nurse's elbow, which gave me a good laugh). I was just so overwhelmed with everything that was going on, and I was trying to figure out how to handle the situation on my own. Luckily, my mom was helping me out on the phone, which was a huge relief.
Also, my roommates, friends, and ward members were so willing to help me out, and I really appreciate everything they did for me: a priesthood blessing, a ride to the ER, food from Wendy's, company in the ER, sweet notes and treats, and rides to and from campus. It's been really cool to see the outpouring of love from everyone. So, I guess that's one positive thing about the whole situation.
A sweet balloon a girl in my ward gave me. :)
It sure gave me a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
