Guyana Money

I have a friend serving his mission in Guyana, South America right now. He's in the West Indies Mission. His name is Eddie Coronado, or Elder Coronado now I guess :)

He was in my 3rd grade class and, man, was he a trouble maker! Haha. One day I heard him say something to a friend about "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" and I was shocked! I told my mom I thought he was a member, but she couldn't believe it because I'd told her about all the "bad" things he'd done. Plus, we'd never seen them at church. Turns out I find out later that we was attending the Spanish branch in out Stake!

Well, he turned out good in the end. He's such a nice guy. He went to a different high school, and I made friends with his girlfriend who went to Timber Creek before I knew they were dating. When I made the connection I thought it was awesome! They're both so sweet. She wasn't a member, but she converted right before he left for his mission a little less than a year ago and he got to baptize her. I ran into her at church on my first Sunday back this summer, and we talked for a while. She was going to get her patriarchal blessing that night. It's so neat to see her doing well in the Church.

I've gotten 2 letters from Eddie since I've been home for the summer (I just got his address from Lissette his girlfriend), and the first time I open the envelope to find 20 Guyana dollars:

Then I got this in his next letter just yesterday!

Hahaha, ok, so luckily he remembered to tell me that they are worth 10 US cents, and 50 US cents respectively. Darn. Oh well. I still think the money looks awesome, and I want to start a foreign currency collection.

Did I mention I love missionaries??
