#20 ranked BYU won their first football game of the season versus number #3 ranked Oklahoma University. The score: 14-13.
No one expected us to win, let alone live through it, so, naturally, this is pretty big.
I guess there's something wrong with me, because I just don't get it.
Maybe I'm not one for celebration.
Granted I didn't see the game. I studied the whole time. So, maybe if I had seen the "amazing" game, I would feel differently.
As soon as I came out of the building where I was studying, I could hear yelling and cars honking all across town. And I mean ALL across town.
You've GOT to be kidding me.
Call me whatever you want, but, really?? It seems a bit much.
I could hardly ride my bike home because there were tons of people running across campus in celebration. And don't even get me started on the cars...
I understand the excitement, but all this excess of celebration just screams arrogance and pride. A healthy dose of school pride is good, but this is just over the top. And (say I'm a Molly, go ahead, I know you're thinking it) but it's not very becoming of a university like BYU. After what I saw tonight I'm beginning to understand why the GA's wouldn't let BYU-I have extramural sports.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that BYU won and I hope they continue to win, but don't expect me to drive manically around town honking incessantly and yelling myself hoarse when they do. It's not worth it.

Wow! I don't know if I really know you! What happened to BYU spirit? I am wearing my shirt and signing my emails with the score...H-E-L-L-O? What's wrong with honking horns and being happy!! I'm going outside right now to honk my horn! So there...get it together...BYU football is the MOST important thing at BYU (studying comes second...what were you thinking?)!
Love Mom
BYU 14
Oklahoma 13
Go BYU!!!!!!
Hahaha I AGREE! Driving around for an hour blaring your horn is not only unnecessary, but it is also rather unbecoming and completely obnoxious.
Okay MOLLY!!!
Where is your spirit? I am going to go honk my horn right now too. You are cracking me up. I LOVED THAT GAME! Watched it with the Roses...and John and I screamed and honked the whole way down Alafaya on our way home. Oh wait, maybe we were just yelling at the kids :) And yes, in 1990, I was one of the many that rushed the field when we beat Miami. The same night I met John. Hey...look at that. A little school spirit helped me meet my eternal companion. Hee hee. Instead of saying "Oh how obnoxious", you could say..."a night to remember".
Okay okay...Just teasing you, but you asked for it Molly!
